#CLPA2023 - Africa's land conference kicks off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (Planet Defence) - The inauguration of the fifth edition of the Conference on Land Policies in Africa (#CLPA 2023) on 21st November, 2023 witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Hans Lundquist, Sweden's ambassador to Ethiopia and Djibouti, and Antonio Pedro, the acting executive secretary of the United Nations Economic Commissions of Africa, writes Michael Phiri in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The conference revolves around the theme "Promoting Sustainable Land Governance in Africa for Accelerated Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area."
This theme aligns with Africa’s continuous endeavors to foster and expand this continental intra-continental trading platform initiated in 2019.
More than 50 African countries, including Malawi, have already submitted their instruments to AfCFTA for ratification. Jointly organized by the ECA, the AU Commission, and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the conference has convened leaders, experts, traditional authorities, and non-state actors, among others.
As per the organizers, the primary objective of CLPA 2023, concluding on Thursday, November 24, 2023, is to bolster commitment and improve capabilities for the development, implementation, and monitoring of land policies in Africa.
