MAJETE - Elephants unfazed by tourists presence

A Planet Defence crew had a short close encounter with two African elephants at Thawale Lodge water hole, one of the visitor hotspots inside the Majete Wildlife Reserve

THAWALE, Chikwawa (Planet Defence) - A Planet Defence crew had a rare encounter with two African elephants at a very close range within 10 - 15 meters away at Thawale Lodge waterhole inside Majete Wildlife Reserve.

The elephants appeared unfazed by humans presence in their own territory.

They went out their normal business to cool off their temperatures down from the simmering heat with water using their trunks.

Rare moments indeed with restored nature inside Majete.

The African Elephant is one of key species that got extinct by 1992 through armed poaching according to Tizola Moyo one of the longest serving rangers in the reserve.
