SALIMA, Malawi (Planet Defence) - In its endeavor to promote tourism within the Thuma Forest Reserve, the Wildlife Action Group has established a cutting-edge hospitality facility within the reserve called Kaphulika, which translates to "warthog house."
This exclusive self-catering private house nestled within the forest aims to enhance the visitor experience.
During mid-November last month, the reserve had the honor of hosting the Minister of Tourism, Parks, and Wildlife, Honorable Vera Kamtukule, alongside Principal Secretary Chancy Simwaka, Director of National Parks and Wildlife Brighton Kumchedwa, District Commissioner Salima, Officer-in-Charge Salima, Traditional Authorities, District Council Chair, Tearfund, and Assemblies of God Care Country Director. This distinguished group visited to witness conservation efforts.
They engaged with community members benefiting from Income Generating Activities around the forest and expressed admiration for the craftsmanship of local artisans.
The Honorable Minister described the experience as "Stunning."
The Wildlife Action Group expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making this event a success—communities, staff, and government officials alike.
