RANGERS RUN - African Parks NKK plans a 21Km rangers marathon
Proceeds collected from the rangers sporting event will be used to support procurement of field equipment in conservation related work in all protected areas

NKHOTA-KOTA, Malawi (Planet Defence) - Nkhota-Kota Wildlife Reserve, Malawi biggest reserve will conduct a 21-Kilometer wildlife rangers marathon challenge that will commence from the magnificent Tongole Lodge and end at the newly built Bua offices.
A communique made available to the public says all participants are urged to converge at the Park Offices at 6am on 16th of September, 2023 for pick – up to the starting point at Tongole Lodge.
The reserve now under African Parks following a concession agreement with government uses the ranger challenge marathon annually to fundraise support for conservation efforts not only in African Parks managed protected areas.
The proceeds collected from the ranger sporting event also reaches out to all rangers wherever they work including those in Government managed protected areas.
“This year, each park is fundraising through these rangers’ marathon. On top of raising revenue, we intend to profile the respective parks rich wildlife heritage as tourist destinations sites. We intend to raise funds to cover budget deficits for protected area management,” says David Nangoma, Park Manager for Nkhota-Kota Wildlife Reserve.
The donations adds Nang’oma will be duly acknowledged, and a receipt issued. Electronic funds transfers to our bank (African Parks) account will be accepted. Those coming to the gate, we will have a Point-of-Sale device to enable visitors to make donations electronically.
According to Nangoma all the donations will go directly to African Parks, Nkhota-Kota.
“We will provide account details upon being contacted,” Nangoma summed up.
