Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Dr. Micheal Usi recently lamented the skyrocketing prices of fish that are beyond the reach of most Malawians. Usi speaking during the handover of refrigerated three tonnes to various cooperatives said Malawi has enough human capital capital trained in fish processing and management.
He added that it is high time that this human capital should be utilised to the advantage of Malawians. No one has sat down to find out why fish is getting so expensive in Malawi. We must find out why, asked Usi when he officially handed vehicles to cooperatives under the Sustainable Fisheries Aquaculture Development and Watershed Management Project funded by the African Development Bank Group.
